Writer's picture: ChristianeChristiane

PREP TIME: 30 MINUTES

COOK TIME:30 MINUTES

RESTING TIME: 1 HOUR - 2 HOURS

TOTAL TIME: 3 HOURS

SERVING: 2 personal pizzas

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 teaspoon granulated sugar

  • 1 tablespoon yeast

  • 1 and 1/2 cups warm water

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • 1 tablespoon honey

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 3 and whole wheat flour

  • extra honey for drizzle

Instructions

  1. In a stand mixer, fitted with a hook attachment, combine the sugar, yeast, and warm water. Stir and let it sit for 5 minutes or until the yeast has dissolved.

  2. Add olive oil, honey, and salt. Mix with the dough hook on low speed for 30 seconds. Add 3 cups of whole wheat flour and mix with the dough hook on low speed

  3. Once mixed, knead for 5 minutes with your hook on low-medium. Poke the dough with your finger – if it bounces back, your dough is ready to rise. If not, keep kneading slowly.

  4. Roll the dough into a ball and place in a large mixing bowl that has been coated lightly with olive oil. Cover tightly with plastic wrap and allow to rise.

  5. Your dough will have doubled in size in about 1 – 2 hours.

  6. Once it has doubled in size, cut the dough into two.

  7. Roll each half into a ball and let rest in two separate bowls lightly covered with plastic wrap for at least another 20 minutes.

  8. Preheat oven to 475°F. Grease and dust 2 baking sheets with olive oil & flour.

  9. After 20 minutes, flatten each ball of dough 1 at a time on a lightly floured surface. Flatten and stretch the dough into a 12-inch round circle (I use a rolling pin).

  10. Lift the edge of the dough up to create a thick crust around the edges. Pinch the edges up to create the crust.

  11. Transfer dough to a baking sheet, or pizza stone.

  12. Add sauce, cheese & any toppings you desire!

  13. Drizzle honey on the crust before popping it in the oven! (You'll thank me later)

  14. Bake for 30 minutes or until the crust is lightly browned.
